CTS is the subject that amaze me the most because we can never guess what we need to do for our next assignment, for the final project, we are assigned to do a board game. And before we start our group project, we have to do our individual proposal for the board game. I first thought of doing a travel-themed board game, but soon after I had drafted out the game board and listed out the rules and regulations, my friend found it lame so I decided to change my whole board game. After a lot of brainstorming sessions, here comes my 'World War 2.5' proposal.
Throughout this project, I finally realize how hard is it for a designer to design a game because we gone through a lot of problem getting the materials and planning the rules and conditions, this is all small detailed stuff but if you just get rid of it without taking care of these small details, it will draw you to big problems.
Through this project, I had learned that cooperation between
members are really important in order to bring out a real board game, we need
to discuss every small detail and not to make any mistakes, if not, the whole
game will be ruined.
Besides,
I also realize a lot of different board games all aroundthe world which I had
never seen and play before, throughout the process doing researches, we found
the ideas of the game new and refreshing, which stands out among all the
others.
World
War 2.5 is not just a competitive game, it also helps you to think about the
strategy to win, makes your mind clear to focus on the game.
Time management are really important since we had a lot
submissions during that week, but for board game we already plan our part ahead
and start to do our job after the agreement of all the group members. I also
realized that advices we get from our lecturer weekly during tutorial are
really important since they can give us advices about the flow, materials, stages,
etc., of our games, these advices make our board game getting better and
better, getting lesser mistakes, going through a lot of trial and error finally
we completed our board game on time and still having time for some final
touch-ups.
During the whole process of making a new board game, we gain
a lot more knowledge and learn problem solving skills which is really important
for our future career, it is not an easy task but we really enjoyed it.
This is the group documentation of our board game.
