I have no idea how the subject, Creative Thinking Skills
would be, I thought it would be all the brainstorming and drawings, but I guess
I was totally wrong, who would ever thought that we will have a musical
performance as our first project.
Since it’s only the starting of the first semester when we
was given the task to do the performance, grouping was a big problem I
personally encountered, I am not those person who is outgoing and even kind of
introvert so it’s really hard for me to get myself into a group.
But I thought I should get over it and start meeting new
people, and I did, I got into a group which members are really friendly and I
feel comfortable to get along with them. It is really important for us to
communicate among our group since the show is not a solo stage, everyone needs
to contribute and put in effort in practices in order to put up a good show.
Each of us made our own musical instrument out of daily
objects, it might be recycled items or current daily objects we found anywhere.
I thought of doing a shaker but after a few meetings, I found out a few of our
group members have the same idea of doing a shaker, since a group should not
have so many same instruments, so I changed to furthur process the aluminium
tins into a small percussion set which gave out huge sound since the
‘drumsticks’ are made up of metal caps and chopsticks.
After the musical instruments are done, we started
practicing. We do have arguments during the combination of sounds since there
is 12 of us, we had different ideas and different opinions but we discussed
until we get a solution, then only we continue.
I personally thinks that the intention of this project is to
bring all of us together, since we need
to work hard and practice together and improve in communication skills, this is
also the time when you see the true colors of a person, either he/she can work
well with a group or better in individual stuff. But overall, I think my group
has done a great job, we rocked the stage and caught the attention of the
audience.
