Effective Public Communication Assignment 2A:

Introduction: 

This assignment evaluates oral presentation and speaking skills. It also evaluates the student’s ability to research information and present an effective presentation of his/her research. In addition, being a group assignment, each student will experience cooperating and collaborating with other peers as a team with a common goal.

Tasks:

Topic: Analysis of murals or metal art.

Choose three murals found in Penang or any other locations of your choice and describe the following:

• Background information about the mural.
• Highlight concepts of Effective Public Communication found on your selected mural or metal art.

We went on field trip to Penang for EPC and English subjects, for assignment 2A, we chose 3 famous mural paintings by artist, Ernest Zacherevic which are The Awaiting Trishaw Pedaler, Little Children on a Bicycle and Boy on a Bike. We relate these paitings with the olden times of Penang because people use these as their major transportation back in time but now we can barely see people riding motorbikes or trishaws, trishaws are often seen in tourist spots only. We did some research and went to the mural paintings' sites to take pictures and touches the real painting. I am so amazed by the paitings because the artist bring out the gestures and postures of the people then match in real objects, which requires a lot of skills.

This eye-opening trip did amazed me because the people and culture in Penang is really different from KL. Although Penang is only a small island, it includes modern, historical places, it keeps every single detail of the people's precious memories. The people there are really friendly because we know nothing about the directions and locations, we just ask around, and one more thing, Penang citizens know their tourism spot really well, everyone did help in showing directions.

After the trip, we did our presentation, everyone did researches about the paintings so that the information are correctly presented. This was an interesting assignment, it sharpens our photography skill and also analyzing skill.
